Encouraging youth education to help support the future of Science!
ASM launched an exciting new design competition for Material Advantage students at the MS&T Conference. This year eleven student teams from eight universities entered the competition and built miniature geodesic domes.
Each team built their own geodesic dome and were judged across three different categories: an elevator speech, aesthetics, and mechanical strength. The last of which saw the domes being compression tested in front of an audience on the convention floor.
The ASM Geodesic Dome Design Competition was implemented by ASM Student Board Members in an effort to bring “our home at the dome” to chapters and students across the country.
Top prizes were $1000, $750, and $500 for each winning team.
